We camp a lot in a big group. This time around we are having a curb appeal contest. We will be judged on the creativity of decorating our tents making them feel like home and we have to bring the stuff with us. We can not use things from the camp site. I just need some ideas. Keep in mind I my most available power source is batteries and propane.

Definitely bring a couple of cute dishtowels to hang up as curtains in the mesh "window", if your tent has one. (You can "sell" the idea that they are curtains by tying them back with a sash.) Also, look for the plastic lattice segments that people put around flower beds; it will look like a mini picket fence. While you’re at it, a few potted plants and flowers could go in your "yard". Make a "deck" with a few wooden boards (or vinyl imitation boards) and set out a couple of lawn chairs with a plastic table. A couple of fancy-looking drinks with paper umbrellas could brighten that table. A set of horseshoes or bocce balls will make the "lawn" look lived-in.

All of that is relatively cheap, not too heavy or bulky, and won’t need any juice from your batteries. If you want to use something battery-powered, I would get one of those camp lamps that looks like a miniature table lamp, complete with lampshade. Put it on a table inside the tent, where it can be seen through the mesh window.

Taking a family camping trip with a tent to Salida CO. We would like to do some fishing, hiking and possibly some horseback riding.

Hecla Junction is a great area to camp near Salida. It is off the main roads and set up against the Arkansas River. The fishing there is great and so is the scenery. It is managed by Colorado State Parks, so there is a fee to stay. The tent pads are large and level. There are also pit toilets which are nice when camping with kids and ladies. If your looking for a whitewater rafting adventure check out the Bighorn Sheep Canyon section of river just downstream of Salida by an hour. It is much more exciting and far less crowded than Browns. It is also great for kids! Have Fun!

I attended a youth camp in southern part of my country last September. Winter season was almost over alas, that was I thought. With my camping sleeping bag with me, I was confident during that time that I will be fine. However, when darkness came, the next thing I knew was I was crawling out of my warm bag and freezing in cold in my tent as temperature persisted to drop as traces of winter madness. I went to my friend’s tent and there, ashamed as I was, shared their camping Heater and spent the whole night with them. Lesson learned: Sleeping bags are good, but camping Heaters are better.

I guess what I can do now to repay my dear friend’s kindness is to spread the good news so no one will ever have to go through to where I have been. The good news: Camping Heaters are absolutely one of the most fantastic and coolest camping tools ever created. Campers who have attempted and done numerous experimentations before to heat their tents rarely report success, and some were not really able to report anything at all as they became victims of carbon monoxide poisoning or because their tents have been burned.

There are heaps of camping Heaters available in the market today as our modern and ever changing technology made it possible. If you are lucky enough to go on camping on a place with electricity, you can just bring your Electric Space Heater inside your tent. However, you must be responsible enough to keep an eye on your electric camping Heater because I bet that the next possible thing you want to see is to witness your tent on fire or be electrocuted. That is why it is best that you do not leave it unattended otherwise, you will end up in a big trouble.

Gas Catalytic Camping Heaters, on the other hand, are more desirable especially if you are camping with kids. This is safer compared to electric heater as it makes use of propane without an open flame. Even huge companies, cargo ships, and military are utilizing this kind of camping Heater.

Another type of camping Heater is what we call the Hot Vent Camping Heater. This is very easy to use compared to other types of camping Heaters as this kind of heater is placed outside the tent. Only the air tubes are inserted inside your tent emitting safe dry hot air.

Although our modern generations almost make all things possible, it is still entirely up to us how we are going to make use of these inventions. One should not go for just low price or convenience but more importantly, for our safety when using a camping Heater. It is important that we consider how safe and not just how warm or how cheap or how handy our camping Heater is! No one wants to end up in a hospital and missing the fun of the camp’s activities just because our heater is not safe enough for a night sleep.

One way to ensure our safety in the camp is to keep in mind that whenever we use our camping Heater, there must always be a room for ventilation. We should leave a vent or window open to permit air and moisture to circulate. At the end of the day, our tent will be warmer if we get rid of the natural dampness that builds up through the night. It is a No-No to seal off every space in our tent thinking that it will be warmer and better. Otherwise, we may end up being suffocated with dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

In the end, it all boils down to extreme cautiousness in whatever type of camping Heater we may choose in the market. It is a must that we may be able to choose the one safe not just for us but for everybody in the camp as we want nothing else but to enjoy every moment in that camp experience with everybody. After all, camping Heaters are definitely the next best thing to make the most of your camp trip.

Truck tents are becoming more and more popular everywhere from West Coast to the East Coast and all the cities in between. Most stores are selling out of truck tents. Truck tents are a great way to incorporate the extra space from the back of the truck as your own personal camping area. For the price of a regular hotel you can purchase your own tents that will last for several years. These tents are easy to put up anything used almost anywhere in less than 20 minutes.

Sleeping outside is always a fun way to spend family time why not use the bed of your truck as your tent you will be surprised at how easy a truck tent is. You can also purchase an air mattress to use in your truck tent, then you’ll be off the ground and sleeping on a comfortable mattress. These types of tents are very new but they are growing in popularity every day.

There are two major types of truck tents; one that has its own floor and one without floors. If you choose a tent that has a sewn in floor you will have to take out everything from the bed of your truck before you can put the tent up. If you purchase a tent without floors, then you can leave your gear in the truck while you set up the tent.

Some companies that sell truck tents will recommend that you face the truck a certain direction when camping. Usually the manufacturers will recommend that the front of the truck is facing into the wind. If you do decide to face your truck into the wind you may notice that it will help keep the rain out of your truck or tent. Many of the higher and truck tents are tight enough that it does not matter which way you face your vehicle.

Another major difference between truck tents is the type of polls that are used. Some manufacturers give tent poles that are color coded so they are a lot easier to install. For the tents that do not come with color coded tent poles many people do adjust to this and learn quickly how to install their truck tent correctly. Another downside to the variety of tent poles is that some tent poles actually require you to crawl inside the tent in order to put the tent up.

If you enjoy camping and you own a truck you should definitely try a truck tent. They are great way to enjoy the outdoors while sleeping off of the ground. Because you’re sleeping off of the ground you’re less likely to get wet from the ground. Also the sides of the truck offer you more protection from the wind and cold and you may find that you are warmer in a truck tent than you would be an irregular tent. Truck tents are a great new way for families and couples to enjoy the great outdoors together they do not cost very much money and you can find tents to fit almost every model of vehicle. The next time you are thinking about buying a new tent consider buying a truck tent.

It’s suggested that you make reservations to Yosemite well in advance. Now that Labor Day is near, once the holiday has passed, it may be easier to rent a cabin tent or even stay at the Hotel. If you follow the directions left by the rangers to lock your provsions in the bear proof containers and not in your camp or car, you should be bear safe. Here is a link for more info.
