The highest points of provinces of SpainThe provinces of Spain are a political division of the country (very similar to the states of USA or hexagoneaux of France) and the conquest of the main summit of each province it's a funny objetive of some mountaineers. To find the highest point it's no easy in some provinces, in some cases it's possible to find different heights in some maps or books and the real different between summits is only of few meters...
-The most controversial: Torre Blanca with 2617m in some maps is high point of Cantabria but Peña Vieja had 2619m in other maps; Teruel: Peñarroya (2019m) in Sierra de Gúdar is less height than Javalambre (2020m) in many maps but not all.
-The highest point is not ever a summit of a mountain, this is the list of highpoints not the list of the highest summits (in some cases is difficult the denomination summit for some highpoint).
-In the province of Palencia the highest point is a very little peak in the mountain Peña Prieta (not main summit) called "Peña Prieta Sur" or "Peña del Infierno" and the highest summit is Curavacas.
-In Malaga the highest summit is the peak Torrecilla (1919m) but the highest point is in the hillside S-SW of peak Maroma (with main summit in Granada) approximately around the 2000 meters.
-The highpoint of Guipuzcoa is the little peak Aitxuri, really a little aiguille of the peak-massif Aizkorri. Both denominations are corrects.
What do you want? the highest point or the highest mountain?, I think it's personal. The really "peakbaggers"... they climb both points... but generally for mountaineers the highest summit it's a nice climb and the experience is better.
-Summits with permit required: Teide (for the access to the summit in the natural park of Las Cañadas), Puig Mayor (military base in the summit), Torreon del Pinar (park of Grazalema).
-The 51 highpoint? Ceuta and Melilla are two spanish citys in north of Africa with highpoint in Monte Hacho (204m) in massif of Rif.
-The mountains of the borderline of the province can be the highest point for two provinces as Moncayo, the main summit of Zaragoza and Soria.
This is the list of 50 provinces with the 47 highpoints (20 with page in summitpost):
