We planned poorly. This is a big mountain. We left directly from the airport to the trailhead. Got a late start. So the next morning we tried to go from Morrison horse camp to the top. We made it as far as Piker's Peak before I hit the wall. I was also wearing new boots which absolutely killed me by the time we got back to the car after dark. Made all of the rookie mistakes. Inadequate conditioning, untested equipment, not enough sunscreen, not enough water and above all a late start. Learned a lot on this frustrating climb!
